Salem Courthouse Opens Exhibit
A group art exhibit titled ‘On Perception’ at the Salem Courthouse Community Center in Salem, N.Y., will feature the work of Zorica Langa, Seth Butler and Matthew Bartik from June 1 to July 10. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, June 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. While Butler’s fantastical paintings merge reality in a dreamlike space, Langa’s hypnotic abstract paintings hold the ‘internalization of the external world,’ according to the artist. The pattern continues with Bartik’s sculptural work, which manipulates the common fork into figural and abstracted designs.
This show is the third of six installments in the 2018 Great Hall Art Exhibit series presented by the historic Courthouse. This year’s series focuses on expanding the genres of art represented. The Courthouse Community Center is dedicated to providing a venue for artistic endeavors, craft making and unique educational experiences for the immediate and extended community. It is located at 58 East Broadway in Salem, N.Y., and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
