Salem Courthouse Receives Grant
Historic Salem Courthouse has been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Fund Grant Program through the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. This grant requires a full match, and the Courthouse is pleased to announce that a generous donor has already stepped forward to provide the necessary match. A grant from the same program in 2006 was used to restore the front porch and construct an ADA-approved handicap entrance on the southern side of the building. The current award will be used for ongoing restoration of key architectural features. These critical improvements will restore the Courthouse to its original beauty as it continues to serve Washington County, N.Y. and Bennington County, Vt. as a vital community center offering enrichment opportunities to people of all ages.
