Salem’s Shoppe Off Broadway Thrift Store is celebrating its 12th anniversary. Over the years, dedicated and hard-working volunteers have earned $164,000, most of which has been given back to the community. In the past year alone, the Shoppe has made contributions to Lunch, Learn and Play, the Courthouse Community Center, the Salem Fuel Fund, the new Salem Firehouse, the Salem Food Pantry, Salem Central School grants in support of the teachers and their many programs, and a scholarship to a deserving graduating senior. That’s quite a remarkable achievement for an organization whose mission is to serve the youth of the area and other worthy causes. To celebrate, the Shoppe has planned some special events including a free raffle awarding the winner two tickets to the Al Fresco Dinner on July 30. Plans are underway for a very active year which will feature the much-anticipated ‘Christmas in November’ Holiday Bazaar. The Shoppe is grateful for the support provided by the surrounding communities and encourages donations of gently used clothing for all family members as well as small household items. It is open on Wednesdays from 1 to 6 p.m. and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information, call 518-854-9090.
