Santa Claus is Coming to Poultney
The holiday season kicks off in Poultney, Vt. every year with the arrival of Santa Claus in front of the Poultney Public Library, riding atop a fire engine. This beloved annual tradition, hosted in the past by the Poultney Chamber of Commerce, is now being sponsored and arranged by the Library. Santa arrives this year on Saturday, December 7, and the Library is planning some fun activities to prepare for his visit.
There will be a Story Walk that day, when pages of a Christmas book will be displayed in businesses around Poultney, allowing families to stroll through town reading a story as they go. Story Walk sheets are available at the library in the week leading up to Santa’s visit, so that children may fill it out on their walk and win a prize at the Library.
Starting at 6 p.m., there will be Santa Story Time at the Library, with songs and stories about Santa. Following that, Santa arrives at 6:30 p.m. to lead the children down the street to the town office green, where volunteers will be giving out cookies and cocoa.
