SCAC Carnival for Care
Second Chance Animal Center (SCAC) holds its second annual Carnival for Care from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, June 23, at Mount Anthony Union Middle School, 747 East Road, Bennington. Cathi Comar, executive director, says, “This one-day affair is family-oriented and has a slight animal-themed twist, offering carnival-like games and prizes, activities, demonstrations, presentations, and over 35 craft and food vendors from the community. There is no admission fee, and all games cost a minimal fee. This year music will be provided by local artists Homer’s Odyssey and Kevin Breese. We appreciate the support offered by MAUMS for allowing us to use their beautiful fields for this event.”
Proceeds will benefit Second Chance’s animal-care program. Each year the shelter incurs over $280,000 in expenses to provide food, treats, medicine, training, grooming, cleaning and veterinary care to the animals in their facility. The core of SCAC’s mission is to prepare homeless animals for their new beginnings.
Please leave pets at home. For those needing transportation to the venue, for just 50¢, anyone can hop onto Green Mountain Express’s Light Green Line (North) from downtown Bennington and ask the driver for a request stop at MAUMS.
Second Chance Animal Center, incorporated as the Bennington County Humane Society, has been serving the needs of homeless animals in the tri-state area since 1959. It serves Bennington County and parts of Berkshire County in Massachusetts and Washington and Rensselaer Counties in New York.
