Scholarships for Women
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Vermont (GFWC-VT) has scholarships for Vermont women who have been homemakers and have lost their main means of support through separation, divorce or the death, disability or long term unemployment of their spouse. Eligible women are those who are in need of education or training to enter the work force. The scholarships range from $500 to $1,500. This is the 22nd year of awarding this finacial aid funded through contributions from GFWC-VT and individuals. It is named for Barbara Jean Barker, late of Poultney, who served as state federation resident, 1992 to 1994, and who was instrumental in establishing the program. Women receiving the awards over the years have come from a wide range of towns in the state. Applicants must submit a specific plan for their education or training. Applications can be obtained from Midge Tucker; email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 802-5672-3086. The scholarships will be awarded at the state federation’s annual meeting in May.
