Screening, ‘Malcolm Gladwell: When Underdogs Break the Rules’

Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning and Israel Congregation of Manchester present a screening of ‘Malcolm Gladwell: When Underdogs Break the Rules,’ at 5 on Wednesday, October 23. The presentation will take place at Israel Congregation of Manchester. Admission is $10. Ed Morrow of the Northshire Bookstore will lead a discussion of the program following the screening.

Why are we so often surprised when underdogs win? Do Goliaths make mistakes in spite of their strength – or because of it? Why are the childhoods of people at the top of so many professions marked by deprivation? Malcolm Gladwell uncovers the hidden rules that shape the balance between the weak and the mighty.

Gladwell has been a staff writer with the ‘New Yorker’ magazine since 1996. He is the author of several books including, ‘The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference’; ‘Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking’; ‘Outliers: The Story of Success’; and others. His latest book, ‘David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants,’ will be published in October 2013.
