Shakespeare on Main Street Fundraiser at TED
Shakespeare on Main Street welcomes all theater lovers to its first Manchester fundraiser on Saturday, June 28, at the acclaimed new restaurant, Ted, located next to the Willow Pond Inn on Route 7A. The group is raising money for its summer production of ‘Othello,’ which will be performed at Burr and Burton Academy’s Riley Arts Center from Friday through Sunday, August 1 to 3, as well as venues in Poultney and Brandon, Vt. Shakespeare’s riveting tragedy has been celebrated for centuries, and yet its wrenching themes of political, racial and religious conflict are thoroughly contemporary.
In addition to providing an exquisite three-course meal, the fundraiser will feature a special theatrical challenge. The first five guests who commit in advance to performing Othello’s last soliloquy before a panel of judges at the fundraising dinner will receive complimentary tickets to the summer show with a cash prize of $100 for the winner. To sign up for the Challenge and dinner, e-mail Mary Cardel at [email protected] To purchase tickets for the fundraiser, call Lawrence Zupan at 802-366-0110 or Mary at 802-362-3168. Tickets are $75. All proceeds from the event will benefit Shakespeare on Main Street.
