Small Business Saturday Kicks Off Holiday Shopping in Bennington
Tis’ the season to support the locally owned shops and restaurants that have supported our community throughout the year. The Better Bennington Corporation and Bennington’s downtown shops will be celebrating accordingly on Small Business Saturday, November 26. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be arriving at the Downtown Visitor Center at the corner of Elm and South Streets at 12 noon and staying until 2 p.m. Children can visit with both of them and then be treated to hot cocoa and candy. The historical fireplace of the old blacksmith shop that houses the Visitor Center provides the perfect backdrop for photo-ops. On the streets you can enjoy strolling carolers, including the Bennington Choral Society, Mount Anthony Union students and the Pownal Girls Scouts, among others. Each group will be making appearances at the Four Corners and then in certain businesses throughout downtown.
All the locally owned shops will be participating with their own in-store promotions and special deals to kick off the holiday season. The Better Bennington Corporation has prepared a Holiday Community Events Calendar that can already be found in most downtown shops, showing events occurring all over town from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve.
