Smith Receives VBCA Scholarship
Arlington Memorial High School Senior Gracie Smith received a Vermont Basketball Coaches Association Scholarship after playing in the VBCA’s annual Senior All-Star Game at Windsor High School. The merit scholarship is given to players based on academic record, who plan to attend college and who, according to his or her coach, ‘makes basketball better.’ Smith was nominated by AMHS coaches Larry Andrew and Kelly Kennedy. She is a member of the national honor society, an AP scholar and senior class president. Gracie began her basketball career on Arlington youth teams and played for AAU Mack Attack under coordinators Kerry Csizmesia and Ashley Hoyt. In addition to AMHS varsity basketball, she is a member of the varsity golf and soccer teams, performs with the AMHS jazz band, in the varsity theatre club and Madrigrals chorus; she’s also won awards for playwriting and poetry recitation. After high school, she plans to study political science and Chinese and has been accepted for admission at Catholic University, Holy Cross, Union College and Villanova University.
