Southshire School to Stage ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’

The Southshire Community School of North Bennington will stage an adaptation of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ as their winter play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, at Oldcastle Theatre, located at 331 Main Street in downtown Bennington. The audience will join young Charlie Bucket on his visit to Mr. Wonka’s fantastical chocolate factory after he finds the fifth and final golden ticket for a tour. Marvel at the work of the Oompa-Loompas as Charlie and his companions tour the factory and succumb to their sweet tooths – all except one. Find out why Mr. Wonka has re-opened the factory and why has he invited five lucky guests to visit. This production is the 31st winter play in the School’s history. The entire student community, from the youngest to the oldest students, work together to develop and produce the play. They design and sew their costumes, create sets and props, and, of course, rehearse their lines. The event is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
