Springfield Players Announce 96th Season on the Stage
The Springfield Community Players will produce a musical and two plays in 2016. The first will be ‘The Aliens’ by the talented young playwright Annie Baker. This play with music is about friendship, art, love and death. Scott Stearns will direct. Performances are on May 27 and 28 and June 3 and 4, with rehearsals starting in April. This season’s comedy will be ‘Jake’s Women’ by Neil Simon, a hilarious foray into the world of modern relationships. Stephanie Rowe will direct the show, scheduled for July 15 and 16 and 22 and 23. Cast needs are for two women (mid-20s and mid- 30s) and two men (late 20s and late 60s). Auditions are on Sunday and Monday, April 3 and 4, and May 15 and 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. Call 802-885-3201.
For the musical, ‘Godspell,’ Donald Gray will direct with Cindy Hughes as musical director and Kay Burge as choreographer. Performances are in mid-October, with rehearsals starting in August. Auditions are on April 3 and 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. Those who audition will be asked to do readings from the script and to sing a song they have prepared. An accompanist will be provided.
