Strings for Kids Receives Scholarship Support

Taconic Music (TM) announces that Mother Myrick Confectionary owners Ron Mancini and Jacki Baker recently presented a check for $585 to fund scholarships for Taconic Music for Strings for Kids, which provides violin, viola and cello instruction during the school year for local children. Many of the students receive financial aid towards tuition for the program. The funds were raised in December during Mother Myrick’s annual buttercrunch sales promotion.

TM also received $100 in donations in November from Northshire Bookstore to go towards the scholarships. Zion Episcopal Church provides teaching and recital space for Strings for Kids. The winter term is just starting and students can still register for lessons. Students also perform publicly at churches, nursing homes and other venues.
