Students Learn About Veterans Day at Grace Christian School
The fifth and sixth grade classes at Grace Christian School, presented a program to honor all veterans on Monday evening, November 7. Student interviewed veterans and then wrote a report about the experiences they had while serving our country. The honored veterans were invited to the program to hear the students’ presentations. One of the interview questions asked was, “What does Veterans’ Day mean to you?” The veterans replied with many different answers. “Veterans’ Day is a sad day, and a time to remember the friends in all branches of the military.” “Veterans’ Day is a day to celebrate the sacrifice the men and women have made to keep us free and safe.” “Veterans’ Day reminds me of my friends, who believe as I do, that when you love something then there is nothing you won’t do to protect it, even your life.” The students began their assignments thinking that Veterans’ Day was just another vacation day and learned that it is much more; it is a day to honor and celebrate the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country’s freedom.
