Sun and Fun! Awarded Grant
The Sun and Fun! Festival was awarded a $600 Amplify Grant by RiseVT. Planned for Saturday, August 24, the Festival promotes community, environment and sustainability by educating the public. The grant will be used to purchase reusable shopping totes to be handed out to attendees. ‘Since at this time next year single use plastic bags will finally be phased out in Vermont, it’s important that folks have reusable ones,” said organizer Kathleen Shaw. “We have a very limited budget and are thankful RiseVT is supporting us.” Program manager Andrea Malinowski said the choice was an easy one. “RiseVT is thrilled to offer Amplify Grant funding to the Sun and Fun Festival, as [its] mission … aligns so closely with that of RiseVT; to encourage people to get out and moving and bring awareness to taking care of our Earth and precious resources which nourish and give us life – all while building community and having fun.”
Now in its fifth year, the Sun and Fun! Festival is organized by the Eaarth [sic] Advocates of the Second Congregational Church, UCC,
last year’s winner of a national award by Interfaith Power and Light. For more information, go to bennscc.org. To learn more about RISEVT,
