Tap Dancing Master Dorrance to Perform, Teach Class
Michelle Dorrance, award-winning tap dancer, teacher and choreographer, will be at Southern Vermont College on Thursday, November 21, when she will perform with members of her troupe at 2:25 p.m. in the College’s Everett Mansion Theatre. The performance will be followed by a reception, where the audience will have the chance to meet Dorrance. At 4 p.m., those who are interested can attend a Tap Master Class led by Dorrance. The events are free and open to the public, but space is limited.
Dorrance has been tap dancing since the age of four and performing on stage since she was eight. In 2011, she founded Dorrance Dance/New York. She is one of the most sought-after tap dancers of her generation, and has brought a new vision of tap to audiences across the world.
Dorrance has performed with the world’s notable tap companies, has performed as a featured soloist, alongside acclaimed flamenco dancer Eduardo Guerrero in the opening number of the United Kingdom’s “Royal Variety Performance,” and with cast members from ‘STOMP’ on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,’ accompanying Paul Simon and Fallon in a new rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel song ‘Cecilia.’
