Schedule Changes for Food Distribution at Grace Cottage
Grace Cottage Hospital hosts the Vermont Foodbank’s VeggieVanGo free food distribution each month. Due to the upcoming holidays, the schedule will change for November and December. For these two months, the distribution will be held on Thursday, November 30, and on Friday, December 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The food is available at the Grace Cottage Hospital ambulance garage, located at 185 Grafton Road/Route 35, Townshend, behind the hospital. Starting in January, distribution will resume its regular schedule, occurring on the fourth Thursday of every month, from 11:30 to 12:30, unless otherwise announced.
Fresh food items generally available include potatoes, carrots, squash, kale, yogurt, apples and more. Participants are asked to take only what they need for their own household use and to bring reusable shopping bags or boxes to carry their items home. A core function of the Vermont Foodbank is to provide fresh produce, perishable products and shelf-stable food to 153,000 Vermonters in need through its 225 network partners and through other innovative programs at schools, healthcare facilities and affordable housing sites to help people who cannot afford to buy enough fruits and vegetables to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
