The Dorset Players Return to Playhouse with ‘Nunsense’
The Dorset Players are back in the Dorset Playhouse at 104 Cheney Road in Dorset. They will be opening their 88th season with Dan Goggin’s musical sensation, ‘Nunsense,’ directed by Angie Merwin, with musical direction by Gary Schmidt. The ‘Little Sisters of Hoboken’ have fallen on difficult times and must raise money to help bury several sisters who surrendered to botulism on bingo night. Sisters Hubert and Robert Anne (Natalie Philpot and Tracy Hughes) along with Reverend Mother (Ellen Russell) are putting on a show! Catholic humor abounds, and the nuns show us why it is time to turn up the spotlight. Sister Mary Amnesia (Shannon Thompson) and dancing novice, Sister Leo (Greta Schaub), round out the fun filled evening. ‘Nunsense’ is produced by Paul Michael Brinker, with choreography by Erika Lawlor Schmidt, sets by Mona and Bill Wightman and costumes by Suzi Dorgeloh.Performances are Friday and Saturday, October 9 and 10, and 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, October 11 and 18, at 2 p.m. Tickets available at dorsetplayers.org or call 802-867-5570/5777.
