The Glenn Miller Orchestra to Appear in Bennington
Vermont Arts Exchange’s Basement Music Series welcomes the legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra in a special concert on Sunday, September 8, in the Greenwall Auditorium at Bennington College. Miller mysteriously disappeared on a World War II transport plane, but his music was destined to live on. Formed in 1956, the Glenn Miller Orchestra has recorded and performed under various leaders, and plays an average of 300 concerts across the globe each year. Today, the 18-piece orchestra is led by Nick Hilscher and features a 13-piece horn section, with vocals by Hilscher and Laura Hart. Among the most popular big bands in the world, the orchestra is renowned for its unique jazz sound. The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the only official swing group that authentically revives the music of jazzman and chart-topper Glenn Miller, performing his classic hits.
Greenwall Auditorium is located in Bennington College’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VAPA), on College Drive in Bennington, Vt. It is a fully handicapped-accessible facility.
