The Music of Theatre
Green Mountain Academy welcomes the always entertaining Steve Stettler for an informal and sometimes participatory lecture/demonstration of the power of good writing for the stage, on Tuesday, October 21, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Examples will demonstrate how great writers provide clues to the interpretation and playing of their work through the use and variation of sound, meter, pauses and other aural elements. This is a chance for audience and aspiring actors alike to increase their appreciation and understanding of the ‘music’ of theatre. Stettler is the producing artistic director of the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company. He has directed in New York, regionally, on both coasts and internationally. His Weston credits range from last summer’s ‘Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike’ to the New England tour of ‘Death of a Salesman’ with Christopher Lloyd. The lecture will take place at the Israel Congregation of Manchester, Vt.. For information or to register, call 802-867-0111 or visit greenmtnacademy.org. The registration fee is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
