The Ballet Center at Manchester’s annual performance of ‘The Nutcracker’ will be held on Saturday, December 17 (or, in the event of snow, on Sunday, December 18) at 7 p.m. at Burr and Burton Academy’s Riley Center, and on Sunday, December 18, at 1 p.m., (Snowdate Thursday, December 22, at 2 p.m.) at Long Trail School. Artistic director is Marilyn Cavallari. The cast is made up of children and adults from the southern Vermont area. The lead of Clara will be danced by Paige Samuelson on Saturday and Kaitlynn Cherry on Sunday; Clara’s brother Fritz will be danced by Cale Tilley. Mark Tashjian, headmaster of BBA, performs as Uncle Herr Drosselmeyer. Lead dancers include Nicole Schmid, Lily Hickey, Emily Sullivan, Sarah Tilley, Hannah Samuelson, Jeff Tilley, Julia Barclay, JD Reddin and Alessia Tallini. This favorite holiday event for children and adults alike is performed with music is by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky. All seats are reserved. Ticket prices are $24 for adults, $14 for students and $10 for children ages 12 and under. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Irene Hunter Scholarship Endowment Fund.
