The Whipple City Festival Returns
The Whipple City Festival has been sponsored by the Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce for 22 years this June. It began as a way to promote the Greenwich businesses and to thank the community for their support, and has become the premier spring event in southern Washington County.
The festival begins on Friday, June 13, with a parade and the sounds of the Big Easy Revue, a local New Orleans Swing-Calypso-Soul group. Saturday starts bright and early with the running of the Whipple City 5K Race at 8:30 a.m., and continues with great food, an Artisan Market in Mowry Park and fun family activities at the town and village municipal buildings on Academy Street. There will be free horse and wagon rides through the village, live free entertainment by Get Up Jack in the afternoon and in the evening, Greenwich’s own popular group, East Bound Jesus.
Returning this year is the Adirondack Brewery beer garden in Mowry Park. And in Dorr Park, there will be historical and reenactment groups representing the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI and WWII. Community organizations and commercial vendors will also be on hand. Check out our website greenwichchamber.org for updates and for links to register for the 5K race and the parade.
