Tour de Slate Ride to End Addiction

All of the net proceeds from Tour de Slate will help men, women and teens ready to turn their lives around and break the chains of addiction at Teen Challenge Vermont, a 15-month, faith-based residential facility with an admissions office on West Street in Rutland. No one is ever turned away because of their financial circumstances or inability to pay, which is why fundraising is so crucial. The event is designed so that there is a ride for everyone – including a metric century ride (100 km. 63.4mi) and a family-friendly rails/trails route. Rest stops and volunteers will be positioned along the road routes, which start and end on the Green in Middletown Springs. Riders will receive a T-shirt and a  goodie bag. An authentic Indian chicken curry dinner will be served, free of charge for riders and volunteers, at the finish line after the ride. The grill will also be ready to fix hamburgers and hot dogs. Organizers hope this year’s ride will raise more than last year’s $17,633.59. All those funds directly supported the care, clinical counseling and educational and career services for clients at Teen Challenge Vermont.

Riders can register to ride online at tourdeslate.org. Donations can also be made on the website, or mailed payable to: MSCC/Tour de Slate, PO Box 1012, Middletown Springs, VT 05757. Contact Stan Achey for more information at [email protected] or 802-558-0934.
