Vacationing Spaniels to Celebrate with Contest & Parade
Jetson, the four-legged innkeeper of the Wilburton Inn, 257 Wilburton Drive, Manchester, will host 120 fellow Cavalier King Charles spaniels from across America from October 27 to 31. The dogs and their owners will be traveling from 20 states including Arkansas, Texas, California and Kentucky as part of the national Cavalier Brigade, an online community dedicated to supporting Cavalier rescue and education.
The highlight of their five-day visit will be the juried Canine Costume Ball at the Inn on Saturday, October 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. All dogs under 25 pounds are welcome to participate. The event begins with a blessing of the dogs by Reverend Claire North. Mother Myrick’s Confectionary will give the prize for the sweetest costume; Pets, Etc. for the most creative homemade costume; Dorset Union Store for the most historic costume; Northshire Bookstore for the most literary costume; and Wagathas will award the grand prize, plus a box of treats to all participants.
In addition to the costume ball, there will be a fundraising auction, an ice cream social pajama party and a puppy parade down the marble sidewalks of Manchester Village at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 29.
