VAE Welcomes The Citizens

The Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE) welcomes The Citizens on Saturday, April 9, to the Masonic Hall at 504 Main Street in Bennington. Doors open at 7 for the 8 p.m. show.

The Citizens are a four-piece band from New York City  and are known for their dynamic range of songs, varying from British-influenced rock to sometimes experimental pieces. Their influences include The Beatles, The Smiths, Big Star, Sly and the Family Stone, Velvet Underground and The Pretenders. Band members are Jason DiMatteo on bass and John Bollinger on drums, who have known each other since grade school. Bennington’s own Thom Loubet is lead guitarist; he has played with some of the New York scene’s most prominent musicians. Lead singer, lyricist and keyboard player is Mark Lesseraux, known for his considerable vocal ability.

Tickets to the event are $18  (or $10 for students with a valid ID) at brownpapertickets.com or vtartxchange.org,  or by calling 800-838-3006. (A small processing fee will be charged.)
