Wallingford Bike Safety Day
On Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Wallingford Community Bike Safety Day, will host its 16th annual event at the Wallingford Elementary School in Wallingford, Vt. This fun, interactive and collaboratively-sponsored event has something for all ages; free helmet fitting, an obstacle course, bike safety inspections, a 911 rescue vehicle and a chance to speak with law enforcement. There are prize give-a-ways, face painting, refreshments and much more, thanks to the generous support of sponsors and volunteers. Bike Safety Day was started in the late 90s by Wallingford’s Brad Kelley, who, over the years, has enlisted the aid of Rotary, local businesses and volunteers. To date, major sponsors are the Wallingford Rotary and the GE volunteers ralleyed by Rodney Ward. The event is modeled from a program initiated by the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute and New England Medical Center of Boston.
