Wallingford Congregational Church to Host 98th Annual Breakfast
The First Congregational Church of Wallingford is hosting its 98th annual May Breakfast on Wednesday, May 1, from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. The event has been hosted by the Ladies’ Aid Society at the Church since it began on the first day of fishing season in May 1921, and has remained popular ever since. Earlier breakfasts fed 150 guests or more. Back then, most of the items served cost less than $1, according to one notation in the Church’s extensive record of the breakfasts. But while the price has gone up – it’s $8 for adults and $4 for children – the menu still features homemade corned beef hash, along with eggs, bacon, sausage and breakfast casseroles, pancakes, maple syrup, muffins, pancakes, fresh fruit and assorted beverages. The Church is located on Main Street/Route 7 in Wallingford. For further details, call Lois at 802-446-2442.
