Wardsboro Plant Sale
The Friends of the Wardsboro Library is sponsoring its annual Memorial Day weekend Plant Sale, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Wardsboro Library, a non-profit organization that supports the Wardsboro Public Library, and will take place on the front lawn of the Library at 170 Main Street and the Wardsboro Town Common at Route 100 and Main Street. A large variety of hearty perennials, colorful annuals, shrubs, vegetables, and herbs will be reasonably priced. A new feature this year’s is the Garden Boutique, where shoppers will find new and used garden items at bargain prices. Vermont Extension Master Gardeners will staff an information table and answer gardening questions from visitors. Erica Bowman, landscape architect and owner of Andromeda Designs of Jamaica, Vt. will present a ‘Garden Talkback’ at 10 a.m. Bowman has graciously volunteered her expertise to help the Friends design planting areas around the library building. The existing gardens are all a part of her master plan, and more gardens are p nned for the future. The Best Raffle Ever, featuring a hand-crafted twig chair by Albert Litchfield of Litchfield Woodworks of Townshend, will be on display at the sale and can be viewed at friendsofwardsborolibrary.org. Print raffle tickets from the website or purchase them at the Plant Sale or the Wardsboro Library. The winning ticket will be drawn at the July 4th Street Fair and Parade. The winner need not be present. The Wardsboro Library trustees will also hold their annual bake sale beginning at 9 a.m. on the Town Common, where shoppers will find the Friends’ Flower Cart filled with annuals and the Bake Sale tent.
