Wells Village Library Reports a Successful Summer
The Wells Village Library Board thanks all of the volunteers who helped make the Book, Bake, Tag and Treasure Sale, and the Variety Day Sale a great success. The library earned $1800 this year, which tops the amount earned last year. We would also like to thank the patrons who donated books, baked goods, plants, games, puzzles and treasure items. And, special thanks goes to Wellsmere Farm for their donation of bird houses, pies and jams. All the proceeds go to the purchase of new books and helps support the Adult Education and Children’s programs.
The Summer Reading Club was enjoyed by the children of Wells and summer visitors to the lake. Eighteen children signed up for the summer reading program and received prizes for completing reading activities. Twelve programs were conducted by Librarian Joanne Van Meter, with a total attendance of 145 children. Children were treated to Sunflower and Spider Craft Programs by Peg Browe and a Rock Creation Program by Becky Corey. The Library Board thanks these two talented ladies.
The Library also enjoyed a visit from the children of the Wells Village School Summer Program.
The library is open Mondays 6 to 8, Wednesdays 1 to 5, Thursdays 10 to 12, Fridays 3 to 5 and Saturdays 9 to 1. Beginning the week of September 15, the hours change on Wednesdays, 10 to 12 and 1 to 3; and on Thursdays, 3 to 5. The Little Listeners Story time, for children ages 3 to 5, is changing to Wednesday mornings beginning September 18, so all preschoolers ages 3 to 5 can attend an hour of stories, music, a craft and a snack.
Fall Adult Programs begin on September 16 at 6:30, with local Second Nature Herb Farm. Watch for further announcements about our exciting fall lineup, which will include programs on Photography, Quilling and a Holiday Craft. The Adult Author of the Month Discussion Group will meet on Wednesday, September 25 at 1, to discuss the amusing books by Earleen Fowler. New members are welcome and can join the group by stopping by the library to select a book. All programs will be posted on our library’s website,
