Welsh Hymn Sing & Social
On Sunday, June 12, at 2 p.m., a Welsh heritage traditional hymn sing and tea social will be held at Peniel Presbyterian Church, on Quaker Street in Granville, N.Y. Sponsored by Poultney Area Saint David’s Society, the event is one of several Welsh Weekend events being held in the region’s slate valley that weekend. All are welcome. The Hymn Sing will be led by Crystal Everdyke, director of the Granville Area Chorus and Band in the Granville public school system. Peniel’s organist Lois Warner will accompany.Raymond Lloyd, retired Ordained Southern Baptist Pastor and a member of Poultney Area Saint David’s Society, will officiate. Jerry McKinney, pastor of United Church of Granville will offer a prayer of welcome. Special music during the service will include solos performed by the late Welsh tenor Cyril Lloyd, who was a resident of Granville for many years, from recently re-mastered privately-owned recordings recorded in 1990 by Lloyd’s son from a rehearsal session held within Peniel Presbyterian Church. A limited number of gymanfa hymnals will be available.If you have your own gymanfa hymnal, please bring it with you. Free will offerings will be for the benefit of the renovation fund of historic Peniel Presbyterian Church.
