Whitingham Old Home Week
Every decade since 1906, Whitingham has held an Old Home Week for residents, former residents and visitors to celebrate the town’s heritage. Come and join the fun, Thursday to Sunday, August 11 to 14. Events begin with a 1906-themed Variety Show on Thursday evening. Friday there is a children’s parade, children’s activities and sports, a family show and second performance of the Variety Show, capped off with a fireworks display. Saturday morning is a parade featuring bands, floats, animals, antique cars and tractors, followed by the Fireman’s Muster, horseshoe and whiffle ball tournament, and children’s carnival. Saturday night will feature two live bands for young and old. Sunday wraps up the action with a Family Fun Race, a breakfast by the Masons, geo-caching on Town Hill and a community pot lunch. There is no admission charge for any event. All activities will be held at Twin Valley Middle High School on Route 100. Various community organizations will be offering dinners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights; on Saturday afternoon the Halifax Fire Department will be holding a chicken barbecue. Food will also be available on site from local vendors. More detailed information can be found at whitinghamoldhomeweek.com.
