Williams Concert and Chamber Choirs to Perform in Free Concert
The Williams College Department of Music presents the Williams Concert Choir and the Williams Chamber Choir, held in Chapin Hall on the Williams campus on Friday, May 9, at 8 p.m. This free event is open to the public. Led by director Brad Wells, the combined choirs present one the modern masterpieces of a cappella choral music, Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir. Surprisingly, Swiss composer Martin, who wrote the work in 1922, was uncertain of its worth, keeping it secret until a first performance in 1962. It has since become one of the pillars of the choral repertoire and a beloved mass setting for choirs and audiences worldwide. For more information, call 413-597-3146 or visit music.williams.edu. Chapin Hall is located at 54 Chapin Hall Drive on the Williams College campus in Williamstown, Ma.
