Williamstown Holiday Walk to Offer Festive Fun
Holiday sound and spirit will fill Spring Street on Saturday, December 7, for the 30th annual Williamstown Holiday Walk. The event kicks-off with the ever popular and always fabulous Reindog Parade. Whether you’re walking your pooch in the parade or viewing from the sidelines, these dogs are all dressed in their holiday best and ready to entertain. After the parade, we will have Santa and his elves in the Log, with hot cocoa provided by North Adams Regional Hospital. Also in the Log, the Holiday Cookie Bake-Off will be taking place. You can enter your best holiday cookie in our bake-off and let Santa be the judge!
Musical talent will fill the street. Minerva Arts Center will be presenting Musical Theatre Troupe, Minerva Voices and the Gleekers, who will perform selected scenes, song and dances. In between performances, you’re invited to take the stage and sign up for a karaoke holiday song, hosted by DJ Kane. Where’d You Get That!? will host MGRHS Performing Arts students and their Holiday Antics. The Grizzlies, local jugglers, and the Performing Arts Club MUSE will perform on the WYGT!? front lawn. In addition, The Mt. Greylock Performing Arts Club and chorus will sing carols with a twist and a cynical Scrooge will “bah, humbug” at passersby, making snarky comments through the information booth window next to Tunnel City Coffee. Madame Evmerelda, a Victorian misfortuneteller will foresee good or ill fortunes, depending on her compensation. All donations to the carolers and Madame Evmerelda’s crystal ball will benefit the performing arts club. WYGT!? will also donate 10 percent of their sales during the Holiday Walk, so you can shop, wrap, and donate all in one place! The Williamstown Community Chest will sponsor a Penny Social in Lasell Gym. Stop in and take a chance to win some wonderful prizes that have been donated by generous businesses and community members.
For the scrooge in all of us, a reading of ‘A Christmas Carol’ will be done by Jeffery Welch and Drew Gibson in the Log at 4:45 p.m. The evening will close with a traditional candlelight caroling processional and the lighting of the holiday tree at the bottom of Spring Street.
The weekend will be filled with holiday activities. The Clark will hold their annual Holiday Concert on Friday, December 6, at 8 p.m., featuring the Irish-American band Solas. Tickets are $35. Call 413-458-0524 to purchase tickets early, as holiday concerts almost always sell out! And don’t forget to visit the Habitat for Humanity Tree Showcase display from 2 to 5 p.m. The Habitat for Humanity Tree Showcase will be held at the First Congregational Church, with a sea of the most creative little trees that you’ve ever seen for a great cause. On Sunday, Images Cinema will offer a free viewing of ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ at 1 p.m.
Join in the fun as we support our local merchants and restaurants; experience the delights of the season that are sure to please all of the senses!
