WPVFD Purchases Defibrillator for Red Cross Emergency Shelter
Concluding a successful fund drive, the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a new defibrillator for the American Red Cross Emergency Shelter housed in their firehouse. WPVFD Chief Dave Hosley said that donations from the general public were enhanced by substantial gifts from the WPVFD Women’s Auxilliary and Rupert-Mettowee Valley Dairy 4-H Club; a gift from the Dorset VFD Auxilliary was matched by the WPVFD. Shelter manager Paul Turnley added that the funds were raised in time to take advantage of a substantial savings opportunity through the Red Cross. The life-saving AED will allow the shelter to treat heart attack victims. A huge thank you was expressed by Tom Collard, WPVFD President, who said the generosity of local organizations and residents is gratifying. Although the major fund drive is over, sundry items not underwritten by the American Red Cross are needed. Donations can be made payable to the WPVFD Red Cross Emergency Shelter, PO Box 87, West Pawlet, VT, 05775. Your tax-deductible donations will be appreciated and acknowledged.
