Yappy Birthday Party at Manchester’s Dog Park
Come celebrate and support the Manchester Dog Park on Saturday, September. 14, 11 to 2, rain or shine. This is the park’s fifth annual Yappy Birthday party, and the perfect opportunity for dogs and their people to get together for entertainment, information and fun. The party takes place at the dog park itself, located within the Dana Thompson Rec Center on Rt. 30 in Manchester Center.
This year’s celebration will feature canine obedience demonstrations by Katie McKenzie of Dog Lovers Training and Janet Andrea, representing Petco and the AKC’s Canine Good Citizenship program. Special guest Senior Trooper Wayne Godfrey of the Vermont State Police will put his four-year-old German Shepherd Tarawaî through his paces at 12:15 p.m. and answer questions afterwards. Breed rescue groups such as Green Mountain Pug Rescue will be participating, along with vendors, representatives of the area’s dog-friendly restaurants and motels, obedience training and daycare owners, and of course, Second Chance Animal Center. Local veterinarians will also be on hand to offer health, safety and nutrition tips.
The admission fee of $15 per adult and $10 for children under 12 includes refreshments and birthday cake, courtesy of Shaw’s, for people, as well as bandanas and treats for their dogs. The party will end with a canine costume parade, with prizes, starting at 1:30.
The Manchester Dog Park is grateful to all the sponsors who are making the 2013 Yappy Birthday party happen, most notably Petco, topping the sponsorship gift list and earning the Best in Show citation. Casablanca Motel, Manchester Maintenance and RBC Wealth Management/Traver-Gardner Investment Group are Best of Breed sponsors, while Top Dogs include North Star Dog Training School, Green Mountain Veterinary Hospital and Arlington Animal Hospital. The 2013 Tail Waggers are Shaw’s, Grateful Dog Training and Daycare, Pets Etc. and Dog Lovers Training. A special category of sponsors this year is the Chow Bella group of restaurants: Brasserie L’Oustau, Gringo Jack’s and Seasons.
