Yellow Barn Celebrates 50 Years
This summer Yellow Barn celebrates five decades extraordinary chamber music. Its annual festival runs from July 5 to August 3, and includes 19 concerts, plus masterclasses, pre-concert discussions, open rehearsals, and a summer gala. It opens on Friday, July 5, with Christopher Theofanidis’ ‘Speak Music,’ a commissioned work comprised of the sounds generated from reminiscences and birthday tributes recorded by musicians and audience members spanning Yellow Barn’s history. Saturday, July 6, begins with a masterclass; a discussion at the Putney Public Library and a performance follow in the evening. A broad range of repertoire programmed by Seth Knopp, artistic director, includes a tribute to the first moon landing on Saturday, July 20. Complete season programs, musician biographies, and box office information can be found at yellowbarn.org, or call 802-387-6637. Yellow Barn is located at 49 Main Street in Putney.
