Talent Show

Arlington Memorial High School’s Talent Show andCafé Night is on Tuesday, October 4, at 7 p.m. at Fisher Elementary School. Admission is $4 for the general public and free for children under 10. Proceeds will help offset costs for the yearly AMHS chorus trip to Proctors and students’ acceptance fees to District, State and All New England chorus competitions. Hosted by the high school and middle school choruses, the Talent Show offers a varied line-up of musicians and performers including Arlington students, faculty and community members. W. Pawlet Breakfast

The West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fundraising Breakfast on Sunday, October 9, at the handicapped-accessible firehouse, located at 2806 Route 153/Main Street in West Pawlet. It will be served from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The menu includes pancakes and waffles with local maple syrup, home fries, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon with coffee, tea, milk and orange juice. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages five to 12, and free to children under five. Proceeds go towards the fire department’s equipment and training needs. Bennington Elks Dinner

The Bennington Elks at 125 Washington Avenue, Bennington, serves dinner for members and guests on Wednesday, October 5, from 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:15. Choose fish or chicken with scalloped or French fried potatoes, coleslaw, clam chowder, dinner rolls and coffee, for $9. Proceeds go towards scholarships and Veterans programs.

American Legion Events

American Legion Post 69 will host a fundraising Basket Party on Saturday, October 8. Doors open at 11 a.m. A light lunch will be served. Tickets are $7 for one sheet and $3 for additional sheets. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. If you would like to help with basket donations or lunch, call 802-375-6157.

The following day, Sunday, October 9, Post 69 in Arlington are serving breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Seniors 65 and over are free; all others are $6 each; donations are greatly appreciated. Omelets to order are back on the menu.

Manchester Fire House Breakfast

Mark your calendars for a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 9, from 7 to 11 a.m., when Manchester firefighters will be serving up a delicious all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast. Enjoy blueberry and plain pancakes with real Vermont maple syrup, fresh scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, rosemary home fries, English muffins, orange juice and coffee. The Manchester Firehouse is located at 6041 Main Street, Manchester Center, behind the Town Hall.

W. Rutland Breakfast Buffet

Masons at Hiram Lodge 101 and Gilman Chapter 88 will be serving a Pancake Breakfast Buffet to raise funds for charitable projects on Saturday, October 8, from 8 to 11 a.m.The cost is  $9 for adults, $3 for ages six to 12, and free for children under six. The menu will include plain and blueberry pancakes, French toast, Vermont maple syrup, scrambled eggs, omelets, bacon, sausage, home fries and corned beef hash with coffee, juice, tea, milk and fresh fruit. Valley Falls Breakfast

The Ladies from Valley Falls VFW Post 1938 on Poplar Avenue in Valley Falls, N.Y., will serve breakfast on Sunday, October 9, from 8 to11 a.m., with eggs made to order, French toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, toast, fried potatoes, coffee, juice, fruit and biscuits with sausage gravy. The cost is $8 for adults over age 13 and $4 for children five to 12. The Chinese raffle will be starting, and will continue through November.
