Yankee Fisherman tries to get a grip on two-handed casting when Fred Krowchenko of Spey Casting Northeast talks about New England Spey Clave III, the May 17 event on the Farmington River that focuses on the traditional type of presenting a fly. Fred organizes the event with partner Jerry Jahn, and have booked a lineup that will explain the techniques, tips and equipment required for spey casting.
Jim Krul, executive Director of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum in Livingston Manor, N.Y., visits with an update on events there to celebrate the opening of fishing season in New York, including Women and Children first, a salute to female anglers and an effort to get young people to wade into fishing.
Tony Hill of the Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited promotes the group’s 40th annual banquet, which raises money for conservation programs and Trout in the Classroom, which teaches science, ecology and life lessons through the raising of fish.
