A Day On, Not a Day Off
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Committee welcomes everyone to join us on Monday, January 20, to celebrate the life, principles and ideals of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by partaking in a Day of Service to the community, followed by a celebratory luncheon. This 21st annual celebration will begin at 9 a.m. for coffee and refreshments at MCLA’s Church Street Center. Around 9:15, participants start their choice of a community project with either on-site tasks at MCLA’s Church Street Center or off-site at various community locations. There are service projects suitable for all ages and abilities and include tasks such as painting, cleaning, organizing, building, winterizing and sewing.
The free luncheon begins at 12:30 at the Church Street Center, with musical entertainment and words of inspiration. The highlight will be the presentation of the Peacemaker Award to Paul Austin of the Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity.
This event is free and we encourage everyone in the community to volunteer and celebrate our Northern Berkshire community. MLK Jr. Day of Service is sponsored by the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition and made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Service Alliance.
