An Environmentalist Film
Old Chatham Quaker Meeting will screen ‘Bidder 70’ on Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m., at the Old Chatham Quaker Meetinghouse, 539 County Route 13, in Old Chatham N.Y., across from Pitt Hall Road and Powell House. The film tells the story of environmentalist Tim DeChristopher. Like others, he has marched, held signs, written letters and spoken to his Congressman. But in his words, “The legitimate pathways to power have not provided us with the ability to defend the survival of our civilization.” Therefore, when 22,500 acres of some of the most beautiful lands in Utah were about to be sold to oil and gas developers for fossil fuel development, he disrupted the auction by posing as a bidder. The film is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and a moderated discussion will follow. For more information, call 518-766-2992 or visit oldchathamquakers.org.
