An Evening of Beauty, Dreams Coming True and Summer Cocktails
On Saturday, July 13, from 5 to 7 p.m., Three Pears Gallery in Dorset will host a special event to benefit Make-A-Wish Vermont, featuring artists Ken Rush and Anne Sutherland, whose distinctive paintings embody the essence of these bright summer days. This eagerly-anticipated event has inspired an outpouring of generous donations by artists, sponsors and area businesses for an exceptional silent auction, the proceeds of which will make wishes come true for brave children and their families in Vermont. Complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be offered. ‘Summer Skies’ and other new paintings by Ken Rush express the optimism of summer, as well as the fleeting pathos of storms forming and departed. His barn paintings are rendered boldly and directly, by wielding the palette knife energetically. Anne Sutherland uses a different palette and a different technique, but with similar physicality, coaxing shapes into unfamiliar territory in a collection called ‘Connotations.’ “The response from this community has been incredible,” say galleru owners Greg and Judith DeLuca. “Our hearts were in our dreams when we opened. Now, seven years later, it is so fulfilling to put this event together with such a great committee, receive donations that exceed expectations…it feels wonderful to give back, and to help make wishes come true for children who face daunting challenges.”
The gallery will donate ten percent of all sales that evening to Make-a-Wish Vermont, which creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Three Pears Gallery is located on the Dorset Village Green at 41 Church Street. For details, email [email protected] or call 802-770-8820.
