Apple Tree Pruning Workshop
Merck Forest and Farmland Center is hosting an apple tree pruning workshop on Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. The workshop, held in Merck’s apple orchard, will be led by Rico Balzano of Wells, owner of Little Lake Orchard and Agronomy Outreach Professional at UVM.
Participants will learn about and then actually prune an apple tree. Participants should bring their own loppers, shears, pruners, gloves, etc., though MFFC does have some equipment to borrow. Registration is limited to twenty people; please call in advance to sign up at 802-394-7836. The rain date is set for Sunday, March 2.
Merck Forest and Farmland Center (MFFC) is an educational non-profit organization whose goal is to teach, demonstrate and sustain a working landscape. MFFC’s 3,100-acre property is open to the public daily.
