Backyard Sugar Maker’s Workshop

The Bennington County Conservation District, the Bennington County Sustainable Forest Consortium, and the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation will host a workshop for beginner backyard sugar makers on Saturday, March 8. (If the sap is slow to run, the workshop will be held on March 15.) Attendees will visit three sugar operations: the small hobby operation of the Jim and Nancy Henderson family in Sandgate, the 350+ tap operation run by Bill Peacock in Shaftsbury and the 2500+ tap operation run by the Mance family in Shaftsbury. The tour will begin at 9 a.m and end by 1 p.m.
