Ballet Center at Manchester to Present ‘The Nutcracker’
The Ballet Center at Manchester will present ‘The Nutcracker’ at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, at Burr and Burton Academy’s Riley Center for the Arts, Manchester, and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, at the Long Trail School Auditorium, Dorset. The cast consists of children and adults from the southern Vermont area, directed by Marilyn Cavallari.
‘The Nutcracker’ opens with a grand party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stahlbaum. The lead of Clara will be danced by Lily Hickey on Saturday and Sarah Tilly on Sunday; her brother Fritz will be danced by Cale Tilley. Clara’s uncle Herr Drosselmeyer will be portrayed by Mark Tashjian, Headmaster at BBA. Lead dancers are Kelly Gaiotti, Evangeline Bulick, Nicole Schmid, Melissa Nolan, Emily Sullivan, Jeff Tilley, Julia Barclay, Hannah Samuelson and Sophie Jager. JD Reddin is The Nutcracker, and Sienna Halstead is the King Mouse. A favorite holiday event for children and adults alike, the music is by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky.
All seats are reserved. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and $10 for children 12 and under. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Irene Hunter Scholarship Endowment Fund. Tickets are available at the Manchester Mountain Goat and the Bennington Bookshop, or by calling 802-379-0759, and at the box office prior to the performances. Snowdates are Sunday, December 20, at 7 p.m. and Monday, December 21, at 2 p.m.
