Bennington Museum Opens Expanded Grandma Moses Gallery
Bennington Museum is home to the largest public collection of paintings by Anna Mary Robertson (Grandma) Moses, who catapulted to international fame during the 1940s after the discovery of her paintings of rural American farm life in 1938. As the best-known self-taught artist of the twentieth-century, Grandma Moses and her work are seen as iconic examples of American art history. The Bennington Museum’s newly installed permanent gallery features works by Grandma Moses that have never before been on view at the museum. These include Masterworks on loan from Galerie Saint Etienne in New York City and paintings from the museum’s own collection. The Bennington Museum is located at 75 Main Street in Bennington. Vt.
