Canfield Gallery Shows Works by Artist Mallory Rich
Mallory Bratton Rich will be exhibiting her latest pastel and oil paintings for the month of September at the Canfield Gallery in Arlington, Vt. beginning on Thursday, September 4. Rich’s work in pastels and oils focus on the landscape of rural Vermont, eastern New York, and coastal Maine and North Carolina.
Though primarily self-taught, Rich has studied pastel and oil painting with Albert Handell, Gil Perry, Stuart Shils (at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art), and Virginia McNeice. She has been the recipient of four Artist Residencies at the international Vermont Studio Center, and an Artist Development Grant from the Vermont Arts Council and the NEA. She was also awarded an art residency on Great Spruce Head Island, Maine, at the former home of Fairfield Porter. She is a member of the Vermont and Connecticut Pastel Societies. She has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in various galleries in Vermont, Maine, and Upstate New York since 2005. She was featured in the 2012-2013 edition of Equinox Magazine, a 2013 finalist in American Artist Magazine’s 30th Annual National Competition and was the Artist of the Week of Manhattan Arts International in October 2013.
There will be an opening reception on Saturday, September 6, from 3 to 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
