Cash for Candy
Trick-or-treaters who bring their excessive candy to 523 South Street, Pittsfield, Mass., on Saturday, November 1, the day after Halloween, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon are eligible to receive $1 a pound up to five pounds for unopened, uneaten candy.
“Donate the candy and give our men and women in uniform overseas a taste of home,” says dentist, Dr. Jon Gotterer. “The program will help parents that want to limit the amount of damage that is done to their children’s teeth. We want to encourage and teach preventive care which includes decreasing sugar consumption.”
To donate without cash back, drop boxes will be available from Friday, October 31 to Wednesday, November 5 at the Greylock Federal Credit Union and Berkshire Bank in Pittsfield, and Berkshire Bank in Lenox, Mass.
The candy will then be shipped to troops via Operation Gratitude, along with healthy snacks, toothbrushes and more.
