Classical Organ at Old First Church
Charles Olegar, organist of Bennington, Vermont’s historic Old First Church, concludes his summer series of recitals on Sunday, August 18, at 11:15, performing on the church’s pipe instrument. The 45-minute program, open without charge (freewill donations encouraged), features classical organ music ranging from pre-Bach to 20th century, the centerpiece being Bach’s festive ‘Prelude and Fugue in G Major’. Other selections are by 17th century forerunners Jan Sweelinck, Dietrich Buxtehude, and Georg Muffat, with Canadian Healey Willan representing the 20th century.
Old First Church is located at 60 Monument Avenue and Main Street in Old Bennington, Vt., on the Public Green adjacent to the historic cemetery.
