‘Dreams and Digressions’
Spencertown Academy Arts Center presents ‘Dreams and Digressions: New Paintings by Kris Galli,’ at a free opening reception with the artist on Saturday, June 28, 4 to 7 p.m. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Spencertown Academy is located at 790 Route 203 in Spencertown, N.Y. For more information, visit spencertownacademy.org. Galli is a lifelong Berkshire County resident who lives in Lenox with her husband, photographer Edward Acker. Galli has been painting since she was a teenager. “It was my way of making sense of the world,” she said. “For years I wondered what to do with my life, then I’d go paint for a while. Then I’d get back to wondering what to do with my life. It took me years to figure out that I was already doing it!” Now fully committed to her vocation, Galli paints women – balancing watermelons on their fingertips or holding onto their pigtails in dream-like trances. There are also landscapes and abstracts, all with the same slightly offbeat feel. ‘Dreams and Digressions’ will showcase more than 20 of Galli’s new paintings.
