Duo Brings Original Carter Family Songs to Mt. Holly
The songs recorded by the Carter Family in the 1920s are still some of the most beloved folk songs in the world. Victor Paul and Claudine Langille have put together a selection of these wonderful old songs, and have given them a fresh take – not always strictly country – on their new CD, ‘You Are My Flower – Songs of the Original Carter Family.’ They will be celebrating its release at the Mount Holly Library in Belmont by performing live in concert on Saturday, September 6, at 7 p.m.
Paul is from Norfolk, Virginia, and has performed nationally and in the Vermont area over the years with Seabird Band and The Burlage-Paul Band. He plays keyboard, 12-string guitar and harmonica.
Langille is an international performer who now lives right here in Belmont. She toured with the Indie Award-winning band, Touchstone, and currently plays with Gypsy Reel. She plays mandolin, tenor banjo and guitar.
Vocal harmonies are a feature of Carter Family songs that Vic and Claudine delight in interpreting. Both musicians are also accomplished songwriters and will treat you to some of their originals.
Come and hear these accomplished musicians bring it all home in a concert that will have you singing along as you rediscover the songs of the family who got the ball rolling for old time American country music. Limited seating is available. Tickets can be purchased at the door. The suggested donation for admission is only $10. The new CD plus some others will be available for purchase.
